Subway and the Origin of Craig Ferguson's WDWLOTSTC Kitten

Peeps often ask about the infamous Subway incident and its aftermath. It all began on March 25, 2008, with Craig making fun of Jared the Subway spokesman.

Before the email segment was even over, Craig was in a world of trouble for mocking an important sponsor. (Watch how he keeps looking at Michael Naidus, followed by an obvious edit and Craig trying to back-pedal. Too late man, the riff was hilarious and took on a life of its own, LOL!)

But Craig was made to apologize the very same night. So at the end of the episode, he stripped off his shoes and socks, and like King Henry, went barefoot to Canterbury in penance. Lesson for the night, don't razz the sponsors. Bah!

But Craig turned the whole thing into a goldmine by continuing to end each show barefoot and reviewing what we had learned that night. Soon, an email came suggesting he paint his toenails (thanks Judy in Colorado!), and he did.

Even after he stopped going barefoot, he ended each night with a review of what we had learned.

By April 7, 2008 the Kitten graphic made its debut, and the segment has been part of the show ever since. Once again, Craig triumphs, turning defeat into victory! *applesauce* Take that, annoying sponsors!
