Radical Ossetian's armed by the Russian military, launched an attack on Georgian towns (fact), resulting in a measured response by Georgian armed forces (all within Georgian borders).

This was followed by a pre-planned, immediate, mass invasion of Georgia by 1,200 Russian tanks, and a Russian onslaught that resulted in mass destruction of Gori, Poti, and South Ossetian infrastructure (all Georgian soil), and the displacement of over 160,000 Georgians from Georgian territory.

Russia has issued new, reduced casualty figures for the Georgian conflict, with 133 civilians now listed as dead in the breakaway region of South Ossetia (still exaggerated). Read any news reports about it.

The figure is far lower than the 2,000 people Russia initially said had died.
