Clopin and Esme:Homeless Heart(Not Pairing)

First of, THIS IS NOT A CLOPINXESMERALDA COUPLE AMV(Though if you like the pairing feel free to see this as one)

Anyway, I've always liked the idea of Clopin being like an older brother figure to La Esmeralda. After all he calls her sister in the Novel(Yes I know all gypsy's call eachother brother or sister in the novel...shut up) Anyway this is an AMV about how Clopin promises to always be there to take care of his "little sis" Esme. I know it isn't the best video, but I'm happy with how it came out.

@MadCapAithne According to the novel, there is no evidence they're blood related. Esmeralda's father was most likely a random Frenchman. I doubt her mother would have slept with a gypsy, given their reputation.

In the Disney movie Esmeralda is clearly a Rom. So it's entirely possible and even probable that she and Clopin are related.

@bugsbunny7117 His age is never given in the book. He's drawn in the movie to look like he's between 35 and 40 (which would make him around Phoebus' age). Personally I maintain that he's 40. In the book, Esme is four years younger than Quasi. But it seems pretty clear to me that Disney made her the same age as Quasi. That would make her 15 to 20 years younger than Clopin (she's also 15 years younger than Phoebus, but this is Disney; they don't consider those details).

I think Clopin's big brother/foster father status is canon. In the novel he seems to genuinely care about her. He rallies his people to attack Notre Dame in an attempt to rescue her and ends up getting killed in the process. As the leader of the gypsies, he's had to accept that he can't save everyone. But he's not about to sit there and do nothing while his little Esme remains trapped behind stone walls, pursued by a lustful priest.

I like to think they're siblings, but there's also something incestuous going on between them. But I'm not sure if I should make Clopin older or younger than Esmeralda.

@MadCapAithne I know that this is a really old comment, but I've never read the book. Is that really what happened? XD That's awesome! I always figured they were sort of like siblings (adoptive not bloodline) but I don't think (in the movie version anyways) that he's old enough to be a father figure to her so. Sweet! XD That's awesome.

@marymagdalene90 When I read the book I thought it was so sweet that he adopted her. Adorable. Although, I have studied his character several times and cannot find any mention of them being cousins. Somebody on a fan blog wrote that they were. Anybody find that?
