dj. surgeon with a track from the album "dry" 1999.

Since exploding onto the techno scene in 1995, with the now-classic Surgeon EP, DJ and producer Anthony Child has been remoulding his area of contemporary techno. His early releases on Downwards caused a ripple of excitement through the techno cognoscenti of the time, leading to more widespread exposure via remix work for Dave Clarke and inclusion on Jeff Mills seminal Live At the Liquid Rooms CD. Further output on Downwards, such as the Pet 2000 EP (containing the familiar growl of Badger Bite), along with releases by label mates Regis, Female and Portion Reform, helped to place Birmingham boldly on the techno map

  • techno is loop based and needs no "build up" or "climax". Look to progressive house and trance if you are looking for that.

  • thats a good one to destroy some dancefloors.

I agree with you guys, it's the same in (Quebec) Canada. Techno is considerated as lame...

Nobody of my friends appreciate techno like this.

  • Let the lame trance comments roll in- it just makes real techno that much more appealing.

  • these are just beats, its not a competition. hate it or love it

  • wish I was in fabric right now listening to this shit!

  • pure techno brilliance!

  • @toonmoggy From research, seems Berlin is still where it's at. I gave the wrong impression, as I haven't been lucky to visit Tresor. Tresor's first compilation was soft of like my intro to the Detroit/Berlin collaborations. i've always wished I could visit Berlin and the UK and explore the tech scene. Mauriizio, Pacou, JB3, Underground Resistance, Surgeon, Caspar Pound (hypnotist, etc.) and Aphex Twin (which is in his on class) have been my favorites.

Freaking sucks over here in the states.

  • @moonleyet i live in england, seems like places like birmingham and london still have a good tech scene!! but to be fair i go to berlin as often as i can as thats were its at!! i just hope that "tresor, berghain and watergate",dont sell out to 1 day non clubbers! last time in berghain...you could tell that it was mostly of people who just wanted to say that they had "been"..,but not for the music.with you going to tresor my friend,i can confirm that the best underground tech is still played there

  • i wonder... are there places where Techno is still hot... a deman for it? I've been into Tresor, Harthouse, Detroit Techno, UK Acid kats like Casper Pound since early 90's. I live in the states (L.A.) and techno seems to be ancient or hated. Rather, they play this "house" music that isn't House... it's some sort of psuedohouse, composite of fake funk samples. don't get me wrong, I like several types of music, Dance, Trance included, but I wonder if JB3, Surgeon, Oscar Mulero are popular.

  • @trippinbawls i can see from your uploads that you obviously have not a clue about music.. this is real techno, surgeon is a true legend of the genre.. i think in the US what you guys call techno is actually shitty trance music.. you do not have a clue about real techno.
