35 Years and Counting...

An event that has been in the making for 35 years finally comes to life this weekend. As many of you already know, El Mundo, New England 's largest and most widely distributed paid Latino newspaper, is hosting the much anticipated Latino Family Festival at Fenway Park. This all day family event will consist of a tribute honoring Red Sox living Legend Luis Tiant, performances by international Latino recording artists, a health pavilion with games and information on health and fitness as well as cultural exhibits and much, much more!

Although much has been written about the musical concert with salsa legend Tito Rojas, bachata giants Monchy & Alexandra and heartthrob stars Xtreme and Toby Love, the primary purpose of this event is to commemorate 35 years of history in the Latino community as has been chronicled and covered through the pages of this publication. We are very proud of our accomplishments and we are even prouder of our community, so what better place to throw a party for New England's largest and longest running Hispanic publication than at America 's most beloved ballpark!

For us it represents one of the few times we have to look back at our successes and challenges over the years. We are proud of being held up as an example of the "American Business Dream" come true, with three generations of family members working toward a common goal. Founded in 1972 by Latino immigrants, El Mundo is run today by bilingual and bicultural Latino professionals born, raised and educated in Boston .

This historic event could not have taken place without the support of the Boston Red Sox organization, the City of Boston and our corporate partners as well as our dedicated staff.

It is our sincerest hopes that this Sunday is only the beginning of a Latino Family event that can take place in the City of Boston every year that will continue to celebrate the contributions of our community to not only "Red Sox Nation", but to "Boston Nation" and beyond.
