Dear Governor Schwarzenegger -

The Olympic Torch visits San Francisco today on its way to China. Many people are upset at China's civil rights history. But what about California's?

Sure, we were the first to remove the ban on interracial marriages, and one of the first to integrate schools. But, because of you and your administration, we still do not allow some people -- like me -- to marry the person we love.

I wish you would support our own civil rights and give every Californian the same freedom, the freedom to marry.

I remember being told I couldn't be gay and Christian. It took me a decade before I heard God calling me back. The God I know sends a message very different than yours.

The path to heaven isn't about who you punish, it is who you can learn to love.

I forgive you for striking out against your lesbian and gay neighbors, Ekatbat, and I wish that you would use what God gave you to heal the sick, feed the poor, and spread the TRUTH.

There is nothing wrong with gay marriage, just with hating it.

Marriage is a legal and social structure that unites two families. I was lucky enough to find somebody I love, who loves me in return. I can't marry him because of a law that specifically removes the rights of same-sex couples to make the commitment of marriage in California and the United States.

Or are you asking me why that law is there?

south America isnt a country idiot plus they do not allow mariage for gays they allow civil unions,,.... do your homework before talking about lies....

Canada, South America and Spain are the three biggest countries that allow same-sex couples to marry the same as opposite-sex couples.

In the United States, only Massachusetts and New York State permit same-sex marriages for legal and social purposes. Once these couples leave these states, they are generally considered "legal strangers."

This has a profound effect on federal treatment, especially with immigration, taxes and social security.
