The awkwardness of this conversation and the way it goes proves that Jess isn't just a rude punk, he has some social skill problems, most obvious by the way he can't really look her in the eye. I wish they'd showed that side of him more. And I HATE that Rory ruined Jess/Lorelai bonding! Things could have gone so differently if these two had got along.
