I've found that KPHO used similar graphics from 1998-2000 (the open, except for the judicious purple and orange and change of scenery, is almost a carbon copy!).

How is it that your News Channel 4 and then Eyewitness News? I've never seen two moniker names in a news branding name......

I think the original plan was to dump Eyewitness News and adopt Newschannel 4. However they got into a serious pissing match with CBS and decided to go as an indy a couple of years later....so they kept EN for a few more years. They've since dropped it and are Channel 4 News.

I don't think the moniker had anything to do with their battle with CBS. I think the News Channel 4 Moniker was a full station moniker that lasted maybe two years and then their moniker was "The One and Only" and now it's "The Local Station".

Actually it is not all that uncommon for a station to transition from one name to another by using both for a while. They'd been using the NC4 name with EN for a few months at this point. Things started getting pissy with CBS the following year. They had been The One & Only before this and went back to it. WTVC in Chattanooga transitioned from Action News to Newschannel 9 by using both for about 2 years in the early 90's. JXT picked up "The Local Station" about a year before dropping EN.
