@mogul50 Hezbollah "won" by bawwwing to the international community. If Israel was left to take on Hesbollah freely, they'd promptly start carpet bombing or nuking. Hezbollah would collapse; it's a small terrorist organization versus a full nation. Israel is not the US. It does not care about "hearts and minds" and that bullshit.

it's actually more a deal whereby we suppress the Israeli arms industry by offering deeply discounted American equipment in exchange for data on weapons effectiveness, terror networks, so Israel won't go nuclear the next time it's in a position where it should (ie. 1973 should have ended with Cairo and Damascus as radioactive parking lots), and most importantly so Israel won't offer their own advanced technology to American rivals (look up Chinese-Israeli clandestine arms sales).
