  • Never understood why Sleepy isn't more commercially known. He's an astonishing performer who appeals to rockabilly fans as much as country ones. And he's kept company with the best. Just not had as much success.

  • I first heard this song about 1965 sung by a 'bar singer' in Butte County, California. He had a line that went ... "I'm a Long Tall Texan ... I ride a big Jackass ... I'm a Long Tall Texan ... I ride a big Jackass ... People look at me and say ... Is that your ass?"

  • ...great clip..thnx.. for all those who think Sleepy La Beef is a not known singer/artist...i tell u that i live in Greece, and i know him and his music for many years now (since the 80's)... as most of the people who listen to Rockabilly music down here... he is not my favorite, but i have huge respect for the guy... thanks, and keep up all the great work!!!

  • @m1kewithaone You are right.Lost Boys was filmed at the Boardwalk and Santa Cruz. One of Clint Eastwood's cop movies was filmed there too.

  • @Behutet93 cool, i bet that was fun! hey i have a question, i was in santa cruz a long time ago, and went to the amusement park they have on the beach there, and when i saw the movie, the lost boys, i always thought it looks like that place there in santa cruz. do you know anything about that??

  • @m1kewithaone I saw him at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz back in 2000 and would have never heard of him if I hadn't read about him in a book. he's been around for decades. he even autographed an LP for me

  • Hey, this guy was just at my yard sale. No kidding. He lives in NW Arkansas. He opened for Elvis before the Ed Sullivan days. He is still going strong. He is a cool guy with tons of history and knowledge about American roots music. A great guy to talk with.

  • @calionstallion sleepy la beef?? who the hell is this!? i never heard of him. i'm going to ask my sister, she's from texas. you ever heard of pampa tx? well, ok, and i never heard of sleepy la beef! but i'm laughing...
