A Canal trip down the Wendover Arm of the GUC. It started off being constructed in 1793 as a feeder to the Tring Summit of the Grand Union Canal (the M1 of its day), but realising it could be made navigable at little extra cost it received an Act of Parliament in 1794. However it suffered from leak and temporarily closed for repairs in 1802 and several times after, and eventually closed in 1904 with a stop lock put at Little Tring.
The Arm has been still navigable up to the stop lock, and there is undergoing restoration in stages. Stage 1 opened in 2005 to reopen 700 yards allowing boats to now turn at the end.
This video is of my trip down (and back after stopping for an extended lunch)
