What happens when you get two or more players with the same last name on the back of a jersey ? Numbers work,
it just takes a little effort to memorize the names. This ain't football !

Look people, the YANKEES were the 1st major league team to put numbers on the back of their jerseys. When you get to names like Schoenweiss and Garciaparra, the back of their jerseys look too crowded when you add double digits. Get over yourselves and RESPECT the tradition. Yes, its always been fashionable to HATE the Yankees. After 39 AL pennants and 26 World Series Championships, that's only natural.
