I use paddle shifters and never experience the lag in shifting. Plus, I get exceptional fuel economy.

yeah i use to work on these cars. let me just say this. no bueno (no good). i hated this car period. i say do not buy unless your an old lady that really only goes to the market and back home.

It really is a fun car to drive. However, I wouldn't buy one just because of that transmission. Now, if Mercedes-Benz offers a Brabus Smart with a manual transmission and say, 100 hp, I'd be sold.

70 horsepower / zero to sixty in12.8 seconds / and just 41 miles per gallon on the highway?

They've got to be kidding. My 1997 Maxima has 190 hp, does zero to sixty in 6.5 seconds and gets 30 miles per gallon on the highway cruising (in considerable comfort) at 70 mph. Only serious tree-huggers would consider buying this little under-powered sardine can of a car. I'll gladly give up that extra 11 mpg and keep fueling up my Maxima.
