Family Feud - Richard Dawson's Unaired Speech (1985)

The version of the finale of Family Feud that has aired in its original broadcast form, as well as on GSN, does not include this extra speech, which can only be found on the studio master version of the broadcast. In it, Richard Dawson explains to the audience the story of a little girl that he had wanted to mention on the broadcast, but forgot. It's beautifully touching.

This has already been uploaded on YouTube, but in poor quality, so I figured I would upload my much nicer copy.

Thank you for posting this most touching tribute from Mr. Dawson. It's no secret that Richard Dawson had his issues on and off the stage. However, seeing this is a strong reminder to everyone that even though people have problems, many times there are experiences that can calm even the most toughest of people and they can show that they are caring people.

I always loved Richard Dawson and thought he was one of the best game show hosts in the business. This really touched me.

Yeah, it wasn't a devil sign. I actually just watched a clip where he talks about the "I love you" sign he gives. It is because of a deaf girl who loves the show, so he did it for her.

I always thought of Richard Dawson as a master of "cool".  And I always liked that about him.

I have never seen this side of him before. And I must say, that I have more respect for him than ever!
