  • Who the Hell decided to make a Coal Miner glove match instead of a cage match, or first blood match, or Street fight, or loser leave town match !!?? Dusty !!?? Man that was horrible.

  • @JonathanVonErich Bill Watts. It was one of his favorite matches.

  • One thing I feel must be asked about the various things on the wheel, what the heck is a Prince of Darkness match?

  • @FewerMiles Blindfold match

  • I was Surprised to learn that Rick Rude was Suspended from the WWF. Maybe that's what caused him to go to WCW.

  • @MrAaronLadner He quit WWF over a money issue. Same with Jake Roberts.

  • Meltzer's explanation in the Observer report on the show: blood was a non-starter at this point in time. They went with Coal Miner's Glove because it had never been run on national TV or PPV before, and it was felt that fans wouldn't feel cheated about seeing that type of match with no juice.

  • Prince of Darkness? Does that mean Ozzy Osborne would have reffed? lol

  • @JonathanVonErich I remember watching this when I was young and hated that match!

  • @JonathanVonErich I've heard that the spinning of the wheel was done live and they didn't know what the match would be ahead of time.

  • sting and jake are chargin dere lazzers!

  • good ol jr a few months before his wwe debut.

  • @Rvdecwthug and he helped elevate a lot of heels to main event status and he really opened the gates for many heels to become main eventers and Jake was the go to guy to make them main eventers. Every wrestler that he feuded with as a face went onto become a much better heel and he elevated their stock and they all benefitted greatly from feuding with Jake.

Jake may have had his share of problems out of the ring which makes it easy to forget how important he was to the WWE during their heyday

  • @timmy8271b It was a shame that Jake quit the WWE when he did, because just a few months prior to leaving the WWE Jake was peaking as a heel with his feud againist the Macho Man in the last 4 months of 91 and I had never seen Jake look that good before as a face or a heel.

I am thinking maybe Jake wanted more money and wanted to be a main event heel and maybe that is why he could have left. Because Jake spent about 5 years or so also being that upper card face below main event status

  • that what got jake kicked out of the wwe

  • oh so that's where wwe got the idea to do a spin the wheel to see what kind of a match the wrestlers would have
