It's the civility you notice first. There is no drama here — no compromises that have to be made in order to enjoy the turbocharged performance. In fact, when VW first developed the 2010 Volkswagen GTI, it proved to be so quiet that the engineers had to develop an electronic "sound generator" to deliver the proper aural stimulation to the driver.

When the 2010 VW GTI debuts alongside the standard 2010 Volkswagen Golf (née Rabbit, as VW has decided to return to this car's traditional model name even for the U.S. market), it will be presented as a sophisticated German alternative to the Honda Civic Si and Mazda 3.

It will debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show and finally reach showrooms in October. The price of the two-door hatchback will start from around $24,000, while the four-door version will cost about $500 more.

  • This is the way I like it

  • @maxou5757 They both have the same problem - the front biased AWD Haldex clutch system.

  • @damntheman88 YOU must be american to think that more HP is better and faster loooollllllllll

Just watch a couple of Passat R36 DSG videos and you'll see whats german engineering. 0-60 in under 5.5seconds, 1/4 in under 14seconds so it's faster than a Taurus SHO.

Why are you talking about Ferraris? The Lamborghini LP570 Superleggera or LP670 SV shits on all these Ferrari.

This say, the Mustang is not impressive at all, with 5.0L it makes 412hp... VW/Audi 4.2L V8 engine makes 450hp(RS5)

  • @maxou5757 holds the current record for most hp per liter of displacement with the new F450 which has a compression ratio of 11.3:1 vs 9.1:1 of the mustang. thats damn impressive to me. and vw is left completely out of it all. then again Ferrari V8's are outrunning Lamborghini V-10's. and with a liter of displacement difference too.

  • @maxou5757 j you may love the car more or whatever you do to a car but numbers are numbers, just because its a vw doesn't mean its 15% better (out of nowhere). even around a track im sure the ford is considerably softer in suspension but 65 hp is a respectful difference. the new engines ford is coming out with like the 3.5 TT V6 and the mustang 5.0 are very impressive. the mustang is normally aspirated and produces 412 hp. shit the Ferrari F430 is 483 with an insane compression ratio and now

  • @maxou5757 my friend you must be retarded. i take back the friend part. 300 hp vs. 365? oh nay nay. my volvo T6 twin turbo 2.9L is 0-60 in 6.6. and technically its a 2.8 not the advertised 2.9. my sister has the ford edge with the 3.5L V6 and its just as fast if not faster over time because of the increased turbo lag from wear. So i THINK the 3.5 with twins on her is gonna fucking smoke the passat with 300. even cars with 400 hp get slowed down from awd so 300 is a mistake in acceleration.

  • @Mailme81 haha perhaps it will do 0-60 in the 4's if its going off a cliff. lol

  • I'm driving the "simple" VW Gold VI. It's one of the best cars with a very moderate price. I only can recommend this car to everybody. It's just an example of german high class workmanship!

  • @RoRapp66 hahahahahahaha

  • I have this gti version, VERY good carm would recommend to everyone
