This is a video from back in the day, Red Photon Zillion: Burning Night. Its an OVA that takes place after the tv series. I myself never saw the tv series and had bought this vhs on a whim. I totally fell for the vocals of Risa Yuki singing "Nageki No Kids" and the ending song "Sayonara No Machikado." This vid contains the intro and the first song "Nageki no Kids." *Note, this is from the english dub from an old VHS I have.*

NAGEKI NO KIDS ("Sorrowful Kids")

I reach out my right hand that is unable to rest
Stardust that wanders about the town
Dreams are found in the wind between the skyscrapers
Like a shadow, if I reach out to grab them, they run away

What have you given up? What did you give that up for?
Let me hear the whispering in the depths of your heart

*Whoa Whoa
Get away, get away, sorrowful kids
Be brave and reach out for tomorrow
whoa whoa
Get away, get away, you're not gonna die
Everybody wants to love one another

You're the only one who turns the other way
in the light rain as it hits the concrete
Your cry out written in blue spraypaint on the wall
remains as it was in the darkness

Whoa Whoa
Get away, get away, lost kids
Don't let your endless dreams get away from you
whoa whoa
Get away, get away, don't be sad
Just run as fast as you can

* repeat

(Get away, get away) Born to love(Get away, get away) Born to dream(Get away, get away) Born to love(Get away, get away) Born to dream, ah!

  • The story this film has is quite similar to the 1984 film "Streets of Fire".

You know... Tom Cody (Michael Paré) is Ellen's (Diane Lane) ex-boyfriend and he looks a little like the character Rick who was Apple's ex-boyfriend.

The intro and the ending to Burning Night seems to have been inspired by "Streets of Fire".

  • Rick is a badass!

  • I remember buying this same video. I STILL have it after all of these years.

I once recorded the music from a hi-fi VCR using a 6-band graphic EQ and Sonic Foundry Sound Forge. I still wonder which sounds better... The OST or my copies? I worked VERY hard on re-processing the audio on my PC.

Something about my copies brings back a sense of nostalgia since it includes the audio of the action sequences in the songs. :)

  • The musics of this OVA are much better than those of the regular anime, especially the "Nageki No Kids" BGM version. Unfortunately, I never see the CD with the tracks to download.

  • can you please upload the anime.

  • you would be somewhat right.

The first scene, if you look at Diane lane singing, it was the scene that inspired the intro

  • I remember this video. This opening always reminds me of the movie Streets of Fire, which I assume its a tribute too.
