This is how to fish for Mackerel from Brixham Breakwater. Use 4 to 6 feathers and a 4oz weight. Cast as far as you can. Allow line to sink to bottom, be careful of snagging on the rocks, and draw back as shown. Wind in - relax - wind in - relax - just skim the bottom. Enjoy it - it's great fun. Once you have a mackerel hooked let it run a little. Don't be in a panic to reel in straight away. The mackerel will attract others and you will soon have a few more in no time. Eat them the same day - they are beautiful.

  • Thanks for the comments. In UK we use artificial feathers with hooks normally 5 or 6 on each line. There is no bait. The secret is to cast well out and let the weight take the feathers down near the bottom and slowly wind the line in. You can see how in the video and once one mackerel takes the hook it attracts others nearby and it is not unusual to have every hook full. On this day we were catching 50 to 100 an hour. Most we returned for another day, a few went in the cooking pot!

  • I go through about 40 of them everytime I go tuna fishing here in MA.... They are fairly easy to catch on a good day.

  • did this in the mid sixties as well only the fish at that time were bigger at farlie railway pier . and 6 feathers .full .

  • you think the kid is being dramatic enough pulling in 1/4 lbs fish like that... lol

  • Over hear we use mackerel as bait for Lobster and Shark.

  • in america........... thats small live bait

  • @eaglebyntaylor Same as UK buddy, I use them size for catfish :) not lucky like you guys down under, you've got some monster fish

  • Some totally negitive coments on this video, Get Real. He's just a young lad doing a bit summer mackerel fishing. "He's holding the rod wrong! He's reeling in too fast, NO HE'S NOT, he's fishing deep water, he's using a soft rod, so shouldn't snap the line, he landed ALL the fish, he is having a whale of a time. He will learn more as he grows. We all started somewhere.

  • the draw backs wouldn't i recomend... since the hooks usualy tangles up...

  • @eaglebyntaylor Ha Ha Ha .. In Latvia Thats A BIG CATCH
