Criaturas @ Almada 2009

From June 23rd to July 12th 2009 there was a public exhibition in Almada showcasing what best has been done in the city. The exhibition was held on several pavilions each consisting of a different theme that where open to the public in one of the most important squares in the city.
I showed my Criaturas installation in the pavilion of innovation.

Criaturas is an interactive installation which recreates a childish state of playfull imagination where our hands and simple objects are transformed into animated and fun creatures.
The user can interact with the installation by placing the hands or objects over a light table. These shapes are analyzed and transformed in realtime into animated creatures which appear on a screen or projection.

some technical information:
this was created in C++ using the amazing OpenFrameworks library. It also uses OpenCV for computer vision and OpenGL for drawing.
This installation was originally created as my final project for the Digital Arts and New Media course i took at Restart School in Lisbon in 2008. It was adapted and improved to be displayed in this exhibition.
