Here's a quick comparison of the Skreddy Echo and two of the echo models on the Line 6 M9. The models are the Echo Platter Dry Thru and the Tube Echo Dry Thru. Guitar is a Fender CS Strat Pro on the neck pickup. The amp is a Fender Blues Jr. with all tone controls at noon and reverb off. No other effects are used except on the last pass of the three echo's, I kick on a stock TS-9 with the gain off to add a bit of boost.

I do think the Skreddy sounds way better here, though I had the Skreddy and sold it anyways because I really felt it was inferior to the DMM.

It's purely because M9 retains the initial pick attack. This due to the fact that the Skreddy is 'warmer'.

  • Ok, now I have owned both of these pedals since I left my last comment.

And I must say - the Skreddy Rocks so hard. Nothing can touch it's tone. Really, when you do lingering chords with modulation and you get the feedback right past 12' o'clock - nothing can do that like the Skrecho.

The M9 is good, but having had both, I can really say that there is no comparison.

  • There is kind of this metallic ring on the guitar and the delays as soon as the M9 is engaged. What's up with that?

I don't hear that metallic ringing when the Skreddy is engaged?

  • I like the M9 delay better, The Skreddy sounds like each repeat gets compressed more each time so it losses its initial attack. The M9 sounds like it retains the attack and isnt pinched off as it fades away.

  • They both have green lights tho!!

  • They both sound good but the Skreddy's echoes sound better to my ears. The M9's repeats don't begin to trail off like an analog delay until the second or third repeat where as the Skreddy does this from the first repeat.

  • The M9 sounds a little clanky at first, the second one sounds a little warmer. I love the M9, but the delays aren't near as warm in this comparison.
