Grumpy Jii-san's been watching cartoons for way too long. Today he takes a look at something recent from the streaming services. Turns out the Internet is useful after all. Who knew?

This time, the narration was recorded along Long Canyon in the Arizona's Red Rock Wilderness Area.

  • Cant wait for a third season, but I disagree with you on the music, it fit very well to the show, and I still enjoy listening to the soundtracks.

Offtopic: You still planning on making the Aria the natural review?

  • I haven't seen the 2nd season yet, but will be glad of Funi showing it, and eventually the 3rd, too.

I did my take on The Natural back in June ( v=SuxuArxJ17I ). Nozomi has scheduled the 3rd part (Origination) for 2010.

I didn't think the BGM here was inappropriate. In fact the baroque was very aproriate. It just seemed generic and rather bland (like the art). OTOH, I liked both the opening and closing songs.

  • Oh, cool, Grampa's watching cartoons on the net! Next thing you know, he'll be making live podcasts during hikes!

You forgot to mention that the Light Novels that inspired the S&W anime are coming out in December, too. The covers are ugly as sin, but I'll take what I can get. Who knows, this series just might make me decide to become an accountant or something...!

Thanks for the (surprising) review, Gramps!

  • Yup. I pre-ordered the first of the translated novels just for a look-see. (I suspect the novel will depend on the prose more than the story, which means on the translation, so I wonder if it will survive. But I'll try and see.)

  • Good review. This is the 1st time I have seen you watch anime from the Internet rather than a DVD or an LCD. Any plans to do more "watching anime online" reviews in the future?

  • Funi & Crunchy have nice, legit sites (for those of us in the US, don't know if they work for you.) I figure this is probably the future for legit anime, instead of TV. So, it was time to use it for reviews, too. Otherwise, people will think I only watch laserdiscs. :)

  • I liked the part where insects were nposing on your lips and beard and you just didn`t care.

  • I actually liked season 2 a lot more then season 1.

  • I don't know who told you S2 was supposed to be bad.

In my opinion it's even better than S1, and is far more oriented upon developing Horo and Lawrence's budding romance, which I personally approved of.

That said, I watch the show for the romance and the interplay between Horo and Lawrence. The economics and setting are merely there to provide a background to this interplay between Wolf and Spice.

  • I was hesitant to watch this as well, by episode 2 I was completely into it.

I've heard the 2nd season is supposed to be pretty bad though, this was greatly disappointing.

--Glad you found something cool to do with that internet thing.

  • Cool review

  • loud*** not lud

  • Great review. This anime seemed very interesing, I will have to check it out soon. It sounds like a more laid back anime, like SHingu and Kino's Journey. Not a very lud , action packed series, but quiet slower paces shows tend to be enjoyable so I'll be sure to give this a watch. LOL at your "internet" comment :D .
