Hi Everybody, thanks for your sweet comments. This was such a fun show in Chicago--the first of several great shows with our friends Dengue Fever. We'll be touring again soon. Thanks for helping spread the word about our music. We tend to be on the shy side, but are trying to break out of that habit. xo forever, Ani
When I think of New York State and Niagara Falls, I think of Love Canal! That is probably unfair. I was in the rural area just east of Buffalo in 2007. That was really pretty. Another beautiful NY town is Syracuse. You should make it up to the Jazz Fest next year. Montreal at it's best.
Although I live in Birmingham, I consider myself a New Yorker (mostly Niagara Falls area). Been in Alabama 10 years but still feel like a stranger. I miss places like Montreal.
The best bands are discovered by chance my friend!
I was in Birmingham in 1984! But I confess I was only passing through on my way to the World Fair in New Orleans. I wish I could have seen more of your town. Maybe one day, I hope.
I know Plattsburgh though! My Dad was born the next state over, in Vermont. Those areas are only 45 minutes south of us. Keep getting enchanted with new bands. It keeps a person young.
Thank you Isotopefun for your comments. I had a very nice time at the Montreal Jazz Fest a few years ago, courtesy of some friends who live south of the border in Plattsburgh. I live in the far away reaches of Birmingham Alabama and wish I could get back to Montreal, which has such wonderful music.
It's weird, I only know of this group because totally by chance, the local PBS TV station showed a short video recording of a local performance by Cordero from about a year ago.
Oh and just to let you know, if you do decide to check out that video and happen to see a lot of deleted comments from me, don't freak out. I'm not an idiot, but I went on a drunken tirade the other night and my target was Revenu Quebec (not the Rubias because I totally dig them) It's a long story.
I hear you buddy! They rocked me last night at the Montreal Jazz Fest. Excellent little outdoor show. If you like women singing in Spanish, I strongly recommend you check out "Las Rubias Del Norte." You can find their video "Soledad" on youtube. I promise you it will not be a waste of your time.
Awesome guitar solo Ani!
