My Paxil / Seroxat Story Part I - Weight Gain

I intend to make a series of vignettes talking about my experience with Paxil. The first is about the tremendous weight gain I had to deal with. I'm limited to about 2 minutes each message right now, so I'll try to give information that will help people. My experiences might or might not be typical, but they are what I experienced, and knowing about them might help someone who is involved with Paxil and withdrawal.

I've not been good at extemporaneous speaking in the past, but if it will help somebody out, I'll do it.

Someone said Paxil does not affect your metabolism & has nothing to do with weight gain?Are you crazy!Paxil like the other drugs in its class, can impede specific enzymes in your liver that allow your metabolism to function correctly. Much like crimping a garden hose so paxil impedes certain neuroendocrine system pathways. The two major hormones that regulate metabolism are insulin. One controls fat storage while the other is responsible for telling the liver what to do with its stored glucose.

im up 26 lbs on przc. been off over 2 months and gained 10 more anyway. been through this before and know after 3 months it starts to come off for me.

You will gain eventually, it dpends, but I suggest you to stop taking the pills before it is too late, if you wait too long, it will be a nightmare the recovery process.

i took 20 kilos from taking seroxat and ziprexa but i didnt take them very fast i still take those 2 pills im 78 kilos i was very thin because of drugs use. my only problem is that if i stay 1 week without seroxat i get a terrible brain zaps (pew pew in ur brain) and some dizyness its brighter than sun if u have those symptoms in ur daily life ofc u get angry and u rage at people but i get my normal self too! i dont want to talk if i dont take zyprexa my tries to sleep end at 4 at night

Ok a lot of ppl here are arguing that the drug increases your appetite so you eat more and gain weight, but there are ppl who eat the same and still get fat, it depends on the individual for some ppl you will still get fat even if you haven't changed your diet!

I stopped using this poison after 8 years of taking it, i came from 40mg. and i've build it down to 0.5 mg. over a period of 2 years, now i've quit for 2 weeks but i feel tired and agitated as hell, does anyone know if this goes by and how long it takes?

Has anyone found scientific proof that the metabolism returns post SSRI?
