As its DA it has more of a smeraing action as such, where as the rotary cuts. It's this that gives a sharper finish.

i always thought the 3401 give better results cause it also rotates.

Both are fine, the 3403 will be harder to use but will give a better finish and faster.

what machine i need to polish a car, the 3401 or 3403?

How do you get a 6" pad into a corner then without touching the plastic....
I'm gonna come and clay your car one day just to show you :P

Just to add, these pads don't have a sharp edge so you need the tape to get to the edge safely.

Well I dont see a point on not doing it, why take the risk? There is no way you can get to the edge properly without it being taped.
Imo its cutting corners over a safety margin and finish. But then you don't clay either....
