Poem on the Irish revolutionary woman Maud Gonne and her unrequited lover William Butler Yeats, their relationship, and the broader theme assessing the muses effect on a writer.
William Butler Yeats was on love with Maud Gonne all of his life, and in time fell for her daughter Isuelt, probably as a substitute for her mother. He was a dreamer, as poets often are, and while she loved poetry - she was one more of politics and action than Williams dreaming.
He intime became a fan and wrote songs for Eoin O Duffys Blueshirt movement, before it became defunct and merged into the modern day Fine Gael political party.

Wow, Did you know that WB Yeats was so in love with Maud that he even proposed to his daughter? Sounds kinda creepy. The ironic thing is though, Maud was at the time the celebrity of the two and she regected him countless times, and now Yeats is WAY more famous than she is. haha score one for Yeats!
