Debbie Harry wrote a song called "The Tingler" which is on the 2003 Blondie album The Curse of Blondie - the song was inspired after she watched this movie !
@MaggieLovesJimmy found it. It is John Carradine in "The Unearthly" (1957) - "Mad scientist John Carradine's experiments on human transplants have left him with two problems: a pesky undercover police officer and a cellar full of grotesque mutants! Campy horror film also stars Allison Hayes ("Attack of the 50-Foot Woman") and the inimitable Tor Johnson as Lobo, uttering the immortal line "Time for go to bed!"
@upcycle Nope. Abominable Dr. Phibes is all about a guy seeking revenge against the doctors who couldn't save his wife and is in color. You could search Vincent Price movies on IMDB to see if anything rings a bell. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Your movie sounds pretty interesting, though. If you find out, post it as a reply, because I'd love to see it. :)
@MaggieLovesJimmy movie speaking of, there is a would be burgler, whom is caught wandering the gardens. He is taken in and engages with main actress. At the end it is revealed that burgler is actually a detective with police investigating the disappearances of people in area, and infiltrates the house undercover, to investigate the doctor's possible involvement in those strange disappearances. It is filmed in Black and white. Is that still in line with the story of the Abominable Dr. Phibes?
