In May 2007, at 9 years old, Gabriel completed AP Calculus at High School and got a perfect score of "5" at the Collegboard Nationwide AP Calculus Exam. He also got "5" for AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Statistics & AP Calculus BC. This year, he is taking a senior level college course in Mathematical Biology (AMATH 422) at the University of Washington, whose pre-requisite is Undergraduate Accelerated Honors Calculus, LInear Algebra and Differential Equations.
For the past 3 years, Gabriel has been informally studying with various mentors at the local university. With his mentors, he studies various courses beyond Calculus including : Nonlinear Dynamics, Chaos Theory, Stochastic Modeling, PDE, ODE, SDE (Stochastic Differential Equations), etc. Some of the materials are graduate level Applied Mathematics.
His mentors include PhD Students, Postdocs and Professors. In Summer 2008, he started focusing on reading mathematical research papers, and proving them.
In this video he is deriving the Deterministic ODE Model in a paper, "A Quasistationary Analysis of a Stochastic Chemical Reaction" published by one of his mentor, Melissa Vellela, in the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology 2007.
