Lol a Jake just throws the exhaust valve open for a longer period of time during a no throttle situation so the fuel cannot combust thus slowing the engine because if fuel cannot combust it can't throw the piston down nearly as fast

@locoman306 While shifting with a jake brake is unnecessary and causes extra wear, the risk for pushing a valve into a piston or breaking a camshaft is about as likely to happen as it would under normal operations.
Remember the old 6 speed Macks? The only way you could shift those when loaded was to use the jake

Good way to break a camshaft and push a valve into a piston!!! No sense in getting in a hurry when shifting!!!

@359cowboy ......to answer your question YES i am a REAL FUCKING GENIUS! thanks for asking, i was replying to the person before my comment , you outta think before you comment shit like that.....

the wistle is the turbo not the jakebrake
-
@knoxcountyfeeders ......you lost me ! slowing the engine is the same as slowing the rpms. when the driver is going thru the gears up shifting and you hear the jake come on he/she wants to bring down the rpms faster then if they had just let off the pedal and let the R's drop slower. they do that to grab the next gear just a little quicker ! basicly just gives them something to do while they drive, plus it sounds cool :)

he has the jake brake on ,when he lets off the throttle the jakes come on(it helps to slow the rpms between shifts)
