"Big Man Japan" Movie + DVD Review [HD]

My thoughts on the directorial effort by Hitoshi Matsumoto, as made famous from the Japanese comedy group "Downtown". Is this a giant monster/Daikaiju feature worth seeing or is it a failed effort by a coedian to be come a filmmaker? Watch my review and find out! Please note that my review of the DVD is an R1 review and thus, is only available in North America (save importing).

Hitoshi Matsumoto is a top comedian in Japan and a genius whose greatness you cannot understand easily. The way of viewing things of Matsumoto is geatly different from that of ours. He is a trailblazer just like other ones that have been doing in their speciality fields, so not all the viewers can understand the value of his productions.

just watched the movie on download and wasnt sure if I liked it enough to buy it but they review has swayed me :) espeically since there is a lot of content in the special features

I was expecting a movie that paralleled the old Giant Monster movies. I wish I'd heard this review first before buying the disc. It was interesting but not what I wanted. Heavy and kind of depressing, even the fights were sad as Big Man Japan seemed to be confused and ill informed about his adversaries. You really will want to watch this with someone else so you can talk about it afterwards if you're interested in it. This is a good review that phantomsdaydreams did.
