In Holland Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas) arrives each year by steam boat from his home in Spain. He comes bring gifts for children and he is assisted by people known as Zwarte Piet (Black Peter). Sinterklaas will ride his white horse through the city as children greet him. A few weeks later Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet will bring children gifts during the feast of St. Nicholas, December 5th (not on Christmas day).
