Installing GNS3 on Mac OSX.

What is GNS3 ?

GNS3 is a graphical network simulator that allows simulation of complex networks.

To allow complete simulations, GNS3 is strongly linked with :

Dynamips, the core program that allows Cisco IOS emulation.
Dynagen, a text-based front-end for Dynamips.
Qemu, a generic and open source machine emulator and virtualizer.
GNS3 is an excellent complementary tool to real labs for network engineers, administrators and people wanting to pass certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIP, CCIE, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIE.

It can also be used to experiment features of Cisco IOS, Juniper JunOS or to check configurations that need to be deployed later on real routers.

This project is an open source, free program that may be used on multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and MacOS X.

  • OMG I can NOT hear a word you are saying NICE video but the sound is killing me

  • @barackuse Thanks for the comment, I had to adjust the volume on the video itself just now as well as on the computer. It did not used to be like this when it was first posted. All I can think is Youtube have altered some settings again.

There are some other GNS3 videos I have posted.

  • My Macbook Pro is on the way and I wanted to see how easy it would be to install Dynamips on it. Thanks for answering the question. No idea what the other people disliking the video were on about. If they wanted more specific answers then Google is only a web search away.

  • @Dhanabanana82 Thanks, I have no idea either. Google search is easy enough. Its only free information, what do they expect become a CCIE for free by watching a five minute video... that isnt going to happen....

  • this video is weak you lean nothing here

  • @XxMissingDataxX It was made for someone who specifically asked me to make it, mentioned at around 1:49. So it depends on what the person needed to know. Check out some of my other videos on binary maths etc. I just looked at your channel and I couldn't find anything educational posted by you ?

  • @ipzent Yes, Dynagen is also included. You need to set it up however. There is a video on my channel with that in. I have an older installation on a Mac mini of GNS3 that was upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard which still worked ok. The only thing it doesn't come with is IOS. And the last time I tried PEMU was not supported on the Mac version, but it may have changed as that was a while ago.

  • @ipzent alright I take that back then.. lol

anyway, so when you download GNS3, it comes with everything it needs?

I have Snow Leopard, and it gives me a fatal error and terminates.

mind you, I did an upgrade from leopard, with all my old ports, ruby installations,

and everything.. so i'll be doing a clean install as soon as my backup is done here.

I downloaded the Dynagen package as well, I believe there are no issues with it.
