This ain't the Mk1, which was petrol driven, and had the petrol fuel tanks mounted either side of the rear door. A veritable death-trap especially if one of these brutes run into the rear of another one. This often occur ed during the early and mid 1960s when operating in BAOR under tactical conditions without lighting, except for the very small tac light mounted as part of the rear number plate lamp. Lots of blokes were burned to death in such accidents. hence its withdrawal.

@sapperuno Yes it is a Mk1 - it is most certainly petrol driven (you should see the fuel bills we had to pay) and the fuel tanks are indeed either side of the rear door! Can't comment on the death trap scenario, as we never crashed it...
The Mk2 can easily be recognised as the exhaust was mounted on the side rather than on the top. In this case, being a Mk1, the exhaust is indeed on the top.
