1st Battalion, 4th Marines Arrives in Okinawa

Marines and Sailors with the San Diego based 1st Batallion, 4th Marines arriving at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa to become the Battalion Landing Team for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. For six months, the unit will help maintain regional security while conducting bilateral training with allied nations in the Asia Pacific.

@guayx2 Japan is our ally, and it's a really good place to deploy soldiers from. Also The Real threat over in Asia is a little country off the west coast of Japan.

@guayx2 I think it's cause after we bombed them back to the stone age we re-wrote their constitution so that their military can only be a self-defense force, not a conquering, warmaking force. We help defend them, also, Japan is a really convenient jumping off point so now we have Marines and Naval facilities closer to foreign countries we might have to deploy to.

@MrChestypuller1775 Well, Marines are actually about serving the country's needs and policy. Most policy in the Pacific is about disaster relief and security(MOOTW). When you get to fleet, actual operations will most likely be some form of disaster relief or something of the sort. Sure, they train to kill. But killing isn't their actual job.
