Sad that these guys never got the recognition they deserve. Personally, I'd put them up there with the best (Floyd, CSNY, Zep, Who, etc.) Trend setters and trend makers. Genius and a joy to listen to. God bless XTC. Peace!

Give it another 25 years but Skylarking will enter into the top 20 rock/pop albums of all time. It's that good. Prairie Prince's drumming keeps many a song afloat-amazing!

Best pot album of all time, bar none. When you're toasted, "Earn Enough For Us" has a hook so boss you can actually SEE it.

Note: I have not smoked pot since 1995, nor do I advocate its use among the young. I'm reporting here, not recommending.

the abrupt cut off ending is because the album was recorded with the intention that it be listened to from beginning to end, not song by song. when you listen to it sequentially and continuously, each song segues or blends directly in to the next and the album is like one big, continuous song.

I am so with you on this- better than any concert- scratching under a dog's collar, comfortable couch-  sunrise 2 hours away- XTC is musical ambrosia.

Everyone in the world should know about this album. Hell, this band. For me, these guys are some of the greatest song writers ever to live. I would put them up there with the Glimmer Twins, Lennon & McCartney, Paul Simon, Sting, etc. They've got a lot of great songs, great albums, but this one hit and hit big, huge. It is their Sgt. Pepper, Pet Sounds. I can't say enough. I've only run out of room.
