During this years visit to The Plymouth Model Railway Show, I was able to have a go at driving this Bachmann Class 40 fitted with Sound.

  • I know you don't like Hornby Digital and I think I'm beginning to dislike the product too. What digital control system do you prefer?

  • @MrGasturbine I currenty have two systems in use now, For layout control I use the Bachmann Dynamis and for reading/programing an second hand Lenz set 100 system as this was cheaper than the Dynamis pro Box which I was going to purchase. Other system you may want to consider our Digitrax ( I bit un-user friend but very good all the same) or maybe an NCE control (Gauagemaster Pordgy in the uk). For ease of use and very very user friendlyness Bachmann Dynamis comes out tops. :)

  • EE type 4 Thrash!! HELLFIRE! anyway can you adjust the sound cv settings on a hornby elite?

  • I hav'nt got a clue m8. I'm not a lover of Hornby Digital products. My advise is call hornby tech service. Most shops ive talked to in the trade have the same feeling for hornby digital as i do and offer no support.

  • The chip is Mr Soundguy - not a patch on the SWD chip.

  • Thanks for the info, Peter will be at "The west of England Model Show" on the Saturday 15th & 16th of march 2008 in redruth. Give Kernow Models a call for directions.

  • Thanks for the advice! My main gripe with Hornby is the way the DCC functions work!

    That Class 40 is brilliant!!!
