@tonidmc It's because they wanted this chase to look like one from Bullitt with Steve McQueen.
1) Listen to the engine noise - it's the same one they taped over Mustang sound (in real it's GT40 sound).
2) In 1:57 you see McQ driving - exactly the same shot was in Bullitt!
3) In 2:00 there's motorcycle crash - same as in Bullitt.
4) Stickers were removed to imitate Mustang, which had it's badges removed. They did great job on that - first time I saw the movie I thought about Bullitt.
