Hành trình tìm đến ước mơ/An Ambitious Journey (Part 2)

Ford Foundation in Hanoi funds an annual 10-month Film Studies Program, starting from November 2005, at Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

As the 3rd annual Film Studies Program draws to a close, quite a number of students have received scholarship to finance their own film projects. Scholarships were given out to 2 short film, 1 screenplay development, 1 documentaries and 4 academic projects. To track how well the other students' projects have panned out, some students put their heads together and decided to make a video report. The video report was to be conducted in a cross-dialog style, interspersed with footages from their daily activities. Lan Anh and Ngoc Tu from this year's batch were already anchor and scriptwriter respectively, and given my history with the film program's previous projects, I was again hired on-board to be cameraman and editor for this project.

Working in a group of 3 alleviates creative differences, which was a huge plus given the mere 1 week we had at hand to do the project. We shot all the neccessary footage over 3 days, and at night I would do the capturing and sorting process (separating the good shots from the bad). Then we took another 3 days to finish the editing and record the voice-over. The final product was premiered on October 26, 2008 at Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in conjunction with the inauguration of the fourth batch of film student. The report was met with great cheers and whistles as the ending credits faded in.
