Video showing a mapmodel with mesh collisions - so the player can collide with the mapmodel properly, and not with a bounding box. Note how the player can move through the holes in the model (but not through where the model is solid).

The mesh data is read from the sauer model, and converted and passed to Bullet, which handles the collisions. Scripts can also, optionally, create collision meshes on the fly.

  • Do you mind sharing how you accomplished this?

  • @grim1322 Look at the code on github (can't post links here in YouTube, sorry).

Basically, it was a lot of work: Integrate Bullet Physics, then read the cube 2 mesh data and use that.

  • How did you do this?, could you do this with cube 2? are is java script required?

  • @grim1322 This uses a small amount of JavaScript, but it could be done in Cube 2 as well, if you did some extra work.

  • How is mapmodel different from the normal parts of a map? Also, why doesn't shadow cast onto the map model?

  • @Jestersage The other parts of the map are made with the cube 2 editor, in the game. Mapmodels are meshes you make outside, in Blender or something else.

Cube 2 doesn't render shadows on mapmodels, just on the rest of the map - a limitation of the engine.

  • that´s nice! There should be a way to display/ move these boxes as well. a transparten light green color would be nice for this ..

  • Tried syntensity a long time ago, It was kickass then, I bet its even more wicked now. Keep on developing it:)
