Reminds me of my first trip there around that time. Coming from Winnipeg it was something to see drivers polite enough to stop for pedestrians - at least then. We enjoyed free Calgary Springs (right name?) soft drinks at the tourist centre south of the city too, as well as a tour of the plant in the city itself.

My grandmother on my father's side of the family used to live in Calgary back in the early 1960s. She used to drive up to Edmonton to visit us at the Griesbach army camp occasionally. It was always a treat for us to visit her in Calgary because she used to spoil us with gifts. Also Calgary had a very special unique atmosphere compared to Edmonton. Of course both cities are uniquely beautiful places.
