Way too much spectacular AFF around.. Time to compensate all that with some down-to-earth SL-rookies.
I'm the second jumper (the one doing the Funky Chicken).

  • Maybe just me but it looks like you almost got a line twist (second jumper)....that would of been scary for the first jump!

  • @karvanj

Yes I got a line twist. In fact, I had line twists in several of my very first jumps. But in your first jump course you are taught how to deal with them - it's nothing to worry about as long as you still have altitude.

  • @Gaollenaer is static line how you start, and then move to free fall?

  • @badgerattoadhall That is one of the two major approaches, yes. The other is AFF (accellerated freefall), with which you'll make a freefall as your first jump, with two instructors holding you stable for the duration of the freefall. After your canopy opens, you're on your own, just like as if you;d done a static-line (SL) jump.

Either approach gets you an A-licence, though SL takes more time and AFF costs more money to learn the same set of skills.

  • i thought the last person forgot to attach the line!

  • @defetz123

    No Worries :-)

The two last people are experienced jumpers who no longer need a static line to open their parachutes for them. All skydivers learn how to open their parachutes manually as soon as they demonstrate to their instructors that they can remain in a stable position once they exit the aircraft.
