(2003) John Simm stars as journalist Cal McAffrey.

Stephen Collins (David Morrissey) is an ambitious politician hotly tipped for the Cabinet. When his assistant mysteriously falls to her death on the London Underground it is not long before revelations of their affair hit the headlines. And, in a seemingly unrelated incident, a teenage bag snatcher is shot dead.

Cal, Stephen's former campaign manager, offers him a spare room, but soon finds that it will test their friendship as the journalist goes after the bigger story that puts marriages, careers and lives on the line.

  • This also starred James McAvoy, Kelly MacDonald, Bill Nighy and Phillip Glenister. The cast list alone is a guarantee of quality.

  • private public pain

  • I watched this serial after film with Russel Crowe, and OMG this serial is absolutely awsome, the story, actors, everything! Ps. and now I have a crush on Mr Simm.

And that woman at the beginning - the one who plays Greer - was in Torchwood (Children of Earth) - playing a hateful politician. Urh.

Oh well, the BBC does love to reuse its actors?

  • Funny that Morrissey also starred opposite Tennant in Blackpool before Tennant became the Doctor.

He played opposite/with both the Last of the Time Lords. Niiiiice....XDDD

  • John was 33 in this O.O doesnt look it
