Great idea! Let's see, 6hp is about 4500 Watts, so where are the solar panels cranking out that juice? Would it be more accurate to call this an electric boat running in the sunshine from batteries? If the batteries are charged from solar panels, well, that's almost a solar boat, but in practice, it's still an electric boat. It really is quiet too, at least until you use the motor. Seriously, this is a positive step from smelly, polluting gas engines. Nice job.

Hi there! Actually the motor draws right around 2,000 watts. The purpose of the solar panels is to add to your run time while in motion and to recharge the batteries when the boat is parked. No, the boat will not run perpetually on solar unless you go slow. But yes, it is a good step. The next step for Humber Boats is a solar pontoon boat!
