Stop On By Bass Jam (Sadowsky NYC)

jammin on a beat made of Paul Young's Stop On By cover feat.Chaka Khan (Bobby Womack wrote this originally and Chaka had already covered it with her band Rufus back in '74)

this tune is very important for any Pino Palladino fan cause it's one of the few soulful tunes (with Tears For Fears' Badman's Song) from that era (it was released in '90) where he isn't playing with an octaver and lots of melodic hooks; this is just "regular" pocket bass playing with a few fills...

to say the least, it had a huge impact on me more than 20 years ago (i wasn't even playing bass at that time but i was listening hard :P)

Check this out cause Pino's absolutely brilliant on this.

it's in the key of Em and in standard tuning.

i'm plugged into a BSS AR-133 D.I.box that goes into a M-Audio Fast Track, i record via Logic Pro, shoot via iMovie with the built-in iSight webcam and then synchronise audio with video.

@EzekielNwankwo don't know 'bout southpark but when i was like ten, my folks took me to see the blues bros movie where most of the guys backing black singers are white so even if i noticed later that most of my influences comes from black music, it had never occured to me that i couldn't play like this just cause i'm white ;)
