  • OH Gosh!!!, This bring back so many scouting memories. We used timberline 2 tents back in 1987. These are the ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!! tents for the money!!!. Spend your money on a "name" tent like the ones from patagonia or some other nerw fangled hippie company, you're wasting your money.

  • I always thought the scouts used the timberline 2. same basic design though. pitches the same. Awesome tents though.

  • Is this tent preferable to a Coleman Sundome 4?

  • @Kivavitch I've used my T2 for many years of winter camping. These do just fine in winter. As "hagenar" said earlier, they're really meant to be 3 season tents. But I find that this tent is all I need. I've even used mine on deep snow in Canada when using stakes is impossible. Even unstaked, it does fine. Just find 2 long poles or 4 big rocks and use some 550 cord to tie the bungees on the rain fly out. Don't worry about the corners. That'll keep the snow from pushing in the sides on you.

  • by the way, put the vestibule on first before you attach the rainfly.

  • get the vestibule, zip up the flies about 4/5 and you've got a late fall/ early spring tent as well

  • Excellent!!! Thank you so much for the GREAT video.

You helped me save face in front of the sleepover gang today!!! LOL!

  • @Kivavitch I had 2-3 inches land on the Timberline 2 overnight. It and the T4 are fine for a couple of inches, but more than that will cause the sides to bulge onto the occupants. They're not really meant to be 4 season tents. They're meant to be well ventilated 3 season ones. Good winter tents are lower to preserve heat, and usually have a sturdier geodesic frame geometry. The elastic cords on the T4's flysheet are fine in any temperature, but may need cord extensions depending on campsite.

  • Got a a question for anyone who has used this timberline 4 tent in the snow:

How does the tent frame and rain cover hold up in the snow of 12" or less, would you recommend replacing the rain cover guide lines being that they are elastic ??

  • You both did a great job of putting this tent up and I enjoyed watching.

I can see that this tent can be put up by one person....
