  • With all due respect, I keep hearing things like "cheap shots were part of the game back then." Actually, I played back then and I do not believe that was true. The uniforms were less protective, the play calls sounded different, some of the postions have changed a bit, but hard, athletic play was never confused with illegal play. No one liked cheats...not now...not then. I'm not saying no one ever did it beside Mr. Tatum, but he seemed to "drool over cruel" not just athletic fair play.

  • @JOKERLOL12 search "jack tatum hit" that's were I found it. Fairly disturbing to see him on the ground being checked by the doctors. Jack did try to visit Darryl Stingley in the hospital; the man was mean but NOT heartless.

  • @marxistinpdx Stingley believed Tatum's efforts to contact him were nothing more than profit-motivated publicity stunts.Tatum was writing his autobiography at the time.....Tatum never apologized and in fact stated that he had nothing to apologize for.....what a guy.

  • R.I.P.

  • Unfortunate circumstances. Stingley was stretched out over the middle because Steve Grogan missed him, and Tatum was a known head hunter. Those were the kind of hits that were tolerated then, and this was the kind of hit that changed the rules. Solid hits are part of the fun, but nobody should die for entertainment. Everyone of those players is somebody's kid.

  • looks like the guy from Sanford & son in the first picture

  • i bet he was kind of an asshole

  • @rockne88 No one intimidated him, all i said was "piece of shit pussy" to the dickhead that is mocking a man's death

  • @Steelersarethebeasts : He played the game with the same ferocity that your beloved Steelers did of that era... Blount, Edwards, Ham, Russel, Lambert.. MEAN JOE GREENE.... you guys were no angels either. Tatum was just one tough customer that your steel curtain COULD NOT and NEVER DID intimidate !!! But I know he scared the hell out of #88 !!! no doubt about that !!! RIP JACK and SKIP... you were both the best ever intimidators to ever come down the pike !!!

  • @123456MOEMOE : You have no concept of life and no concept of compassion. Congratulations on just being an idiot !! RIP JACK and Skip.. you were two of the pioneers in how to hit your opponent !!! No body has ever done it better than Jack. They put Mel Blount and Ronnie Lott in the Hall of Fame, but they will both tell you that they learned from Tatum !!!

  • fuck Tatum

  • jack tatum the greatest hitter in nfl history R.I.P
