For the people wondering how these mid-90s compilation tapes actually look before I glean the content out, here's an example - pure, unadulterated channel switching from 1994. KYW, WPVI, WPHL, and WGBS are all represented here.

This is from when we seemed to get winter storms every two days, so 3 and 6 are in breaking news mode. 3 is just about to break away from coverage. Bruce Hamilton (News Tonight anchor), Pat Ciarocchi (NewsDay anchor), and Craig Weber (With The Weather on KYW-3) are all on set, which is configured with the News Day lighting and backdrop. Marc Howard is anchoring solo (well, Dave Roberts was probably on the patio) from the famous Action News Magic Blue Wall™.

In contrast, 17 and 57 are going into infomercials. 17's bit of presentation features the "still" ident, which had just changed to the new white skyline/Tribune version - a clip from later that day has a plug for Cobra.

Philly 57 features their rare "daytime" ident from 1993-94. 57 went to a cheaper, less CGI-laden presentation in fall 1993, possibly due to the station's preliminary sale to Fox. (That fell through due to a number of factors, including 10's sudden availability as a possible Fox station.)

  • Yes, VCR and Pinnacle PCTV HD stick. I'm planning on upgrading that one to a newer and better model.

The 90s compilation tapes make up the bulk of my collection. They are unlabeled (or at best vaguely labeled) tapes of varying eras that feature a huge mix of content. A tape could go from clips of Family Channel to local news.

Starting around 1999 tapes got cheaper so there would be less "compilation" style tapes and more complete airchecks.
