  • There seems to be an elephant in the room here. Zizek's whole plan is based on the idea that there is already a democracy in place, and that we would be able to create something new from that premise. Everyone however seems to have left out the European Union, which is essentially undemocratic and seemingly based in the main on the old Soviet system. Already it makes between 60-80% of UK law. Perhaps we need to try to re-establish the old democracies before we can move forward as Zizek suggests.
