We departed before sunrise to begin our trek up the Black Horse Mine trail to the peak of Baldy (elevation 12,441) where Mary was presented a cupcake for her 17th birthday. We found a snow bank to play in while descending to French Henry where we paused to pan for gold and received a hands-on blacksmith presentation. After stopping at Baldy Town to replenish our food supplies we returned to Miranda where we spotted a bear during our dinner.
