  • The actor playing the copilot/instructor is Arthur Kennedy, later famous for roles in Lawrence of Arabia, They Died with Their Boots On, et al.

  • Cruise speed of about 180 smph - 150 ktph - so let's say you're flying to Germany from England, about 600 smi - that's about 3.5 hours out and back, a 7 hour flight, plus flak dodging, taking on fighters both ways, dropping the bombs, all in bitter cold conditions (my Dad froze his ears once) - you can see how exhausting a long range mission must have been.
