The Broadcasting Board of Governors has provided an on demand link to the video from its meeting last Friday which included a comment about young women by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty president Steven Korn. Many who were present at the meeting or saw the live video feed found the comment to be insensitive. Some, especially women, found it demeaning and offensive. One top level female manager at the BBG described the comment as "gross." On demand video link is usually posted on the BBG website shortly after the end of each meeting. It took the BBG three days to post the link this time.
At the BBG meeting on January 13, Radio and TV Marti which broadcast to Cuba and are managed by the BBG, showed a short video of their recent broadcasting achievements. The video was narrated by a young female intern.
After the presentation of the video, RFE/RL president Steven Korn said that he was planning to hire a cute high school intern to narrate his organization's next promotional video.
